A new 30-second television ad released today by NARAL Pro-Choice America hits Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for “never doing the right thing for Kentucky women.” The ad, which will run statewide in Kentucky for a week, is being released in advance of expected Senate action on the “Not My Boss’ Business” Act in the coming days. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Murray, will fix the Hobby Lobby ruling and allow more women to have access to birth control.
“Mitch McConnell and other anti-choice politicians in Washington want to play doctor and determine who can have access to birth control and when,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “We, like the majority of Americans, know this kind of thinking is dead wrong. Whether it is equal pay or access to birth control, Mitch McConnell has gone out of his way time and again to deny the women of Kentucky their fundamental rights. It is shameful and wrong that the Minority Leader in the U.S. Senate now wants to add corporate bosses to the list of people he thinks belong in a woman’s health care decisions.”
The ad, which NARAL Pro-Choice America is putting five figures behind, will run on statewide cable in Kentucky starting this week.
Ad Script:
Mitch McConnell has voted against equal pay for women five times, and he also supports the corporate bosses of Hobby Lobby, who deny their workers insurance that covers birth control.
The “Not My Boss’ Business” Act coming up in the Senate is a chance for Mitch McConnell to stand up for the basic health care Kentuckians deserve. But he thinks it’s fine to pay women less and then take away insurance for birth control so they have more out-of-pocket expenses.
Mitch McConnell will never do the right thing for Kentucky women.
