NARAL Pro-Choice America Reacts to Iowa Supreme Court Decision

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 19, 2015

Statement from Sasha Bruce, Senior Vice President of Campaigns and Strategies at NARAL Pro-Choice America:

“NARAL Pro-Choice America celebrates this victory for Iowa women to access telemedicine, particularly those in rural areas who are less likely to have access to the abortion care they need. The Iowa Supreme Court and 7 in 10 Iowans agree that a woman’s right to decide if, when, or how to have a child should be protected, not restricted through misguided efforts to ban abortion outright. This decision secures a woman’s right to make those choices.

Every day, NARAL Pro-Choice America organizers are on the ground in the Hawkeye state talking to voters on both sides of the aisle about ensuring access to safe and legal abortion care. Our team is organizing supporters of reproductive health and freedom to pledge to caucus and make protecting abortion access a top priority in their communities throughout the next election cycle and beyond.”

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
