NARAL on new polling confirming Hillary Clinton as most trusted Democratic candidate on reproductive freedom in 2016 race

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 17, 2016

Today, Public Policy Polling released a poll of twelve March primary states, showing that 78 percent of voters chose Hillary Clinton as the most trusted candidate on reproductive freedom.

Said Kaylie Hanson, national communications director at NARAL Pro-Choice America:

“This new poll finding that Hillary Clinton has the trust of a clear majority of voters—even a plurality of her Democratic opponent’s supporters—on reproductive freedom, shows what NARAL has known all along: Hillary is the champion that women and families need in 2016. Whether it’s fighting for access to abortion, heralding women’s rights as human rights, or supporting mothers through paid family leave policies, it’s clear that Hillary is the most trustworthy candidate when it comes to issues critical to women and their families.

“The upcoming primaries are a critical time in the election and a strong showing of support for Hillary in nearly every single state voting in a March primary, proves once again that voters trust candidates who trust them and are outspoken on making the change that will allow women and families to thrive.

“While it’s encouraging that Public Policy Polling confirmed what we already know about Hillary’s leadership on issues that are important to women, categorizing what we can only assume are issues connected to reproductive freedom as ‘women’s issues,’ discounts the broad support for reproductive rights from men and women alike. These issues don’t just impact women, they greatly impact men and their families as well. They’re issues that are inextricably linked to an entire family’s economic potential – not just women.”
