Rep. Marc Veasey Endorsed By NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC today announced its endorsement of Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33), a steadfast ally for Americans’ reproductive rights.
“Marc Veasey has been a strong and reliable defender of Americans’ reproductive freedom and we are proud to stand with him during his campaign,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Marc understands that empowering women to make their own health decisions is the cornerstone of building strong communities. That’s why he opposed efforts to further restrict women’s constitutional right to choose and fought back against the partisan smear campaign that targeted Planned Parenthood and the millions of American men and women it serves. Unfortunately, not all of the candidates running in Tuesday’s primary have been such staunch defenders of our constitutional right to choose. At a time of unprecedented threats to our reproductive rights, we need elected representatives who will defend the safe and legal access to abortion that is supported by seven in ten Americans. Rep. Marc Veasey has been a resolute defender of Americans’ reproductive freedom and has a fully pro-choice record from NARAL Pro-Choice America for his record in the 114th Congress. As a member of Congress, he fought back against attempts to limit women’s access to a full range of reproductive health services—including contraception and abortion care. He opposed partisan efforts to smear Planned Parenthood and the millions of Americans who receive quality, accessible care through its doors. When the Supreme Court announced it would consider the constitutionality of laws designed to shut down reproductive health clinics and leave millions of women without access to abortion, Marc helped lead an amicus brief to the court arguing that all women have the right to safe, legal abortion and to make that decision free from unnecessary interference by the state. Marc has taken strong stances in support of landmark legislation to lift harmful state restrictions on abortion access (the Women’s Health Protection Act) and to remove federal laws that deny abortion services to women who rely on the federal government for their health care (the EACH Woman Act).
