NARAL statement on tonight’s town hall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 7, 2016

Tonight, Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America released the following statement in support of Hillary Clinton’s remarks on the abortion crisis in this country:

“Both candidates unequivocally stated that they support a woman’s right to make her own decisions, and that’s a good thing. And we are so grateful to Hillary Clinton tonight for, once again, focusing the nation’s attention on the current crisis in abortion access facing this country, even when asked a question that is not relevant to the experience of the vast majority of the one in three women in this country who have had an abortion. Just last week we were on the steps of the Supreme Court rallying in support of women whose constitutional right to an abortion has been undermined thanks to dangerous, unnecessary restrictions on abortion. This is a crisis that cannot go overlooked and, once again, Hillary shines a light on it in ways no other candidate does.

“We hope that on Wednesday, the debate moderators #AskAboutAbortion so that the candidates have an opportunity to explain their policy solutions on the main stage. Yes, we have two pro-choice candidates in this primary. And voters want to hear more than principles—we want to hear a plan to address the obstacles real women face every day in determining what’s best for our families. And the place to vet those plans is on a debate stage.”
