Rep. Duckworth Endorsed By NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC
NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC today announced its endorsement of Rep. Tammy Duckworth in the Illinois U.S. Senate race.
“Tammy Duckworth is a relentless advocate for Americans’ reproductive freedom and we are proud to support her campaign for U.S. Senate,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Tammy has been a staunch defender of our constitutional right to access abortion care and has pushed back against partisan smear campaigns targeting Planned Parenthood and the millions of Americans who receive care through its doors. She has proven that strong leadership means sticking up for the seven in ten Americans who believe abortion should be safe and legal. At a time of unprecedented threats to Americans’ reproductive freedom, we need a proven fighter like Tammy Duckworth in the U.S. Senate.”
Rep. Tammy Duckworth has been a reliable champion for reproductive freedom and has a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America for her record in the 114th Congress. This includes showcasing strong support for Planned Parenthood amid a coordinated and misleading smear campaign, opposing a 20-week abortion ban, and taking a strong stance in support of landmark legislation to lift harmful state restrictions on abortion access (the Women’s Health Protection Act). She has also introduced the House version of the Affordability is Access Act, a piece of NARAL-backed legislation that builds on the health law’s contraception coverage requirement by allowing FDA-approved birth control pills to be made available over-the-counter. In January of this year, Rep. Duckworth signed onto an amicus brief to the US Supreme Court in the case of Whole Woman’s Health vs. Cole, advocating that all women have the right to choose an abortion and to make that decision free from unnecessary interference by the state.
