Tonight, Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, released the following statement on tonight’s primary races:
“Hillary Clinton is a champion for reproductive freedom and tonight the majority of voters agreed that she’s a champion for all. Her victories in the majority of states makes it clear that she’s the most qualified leader to bring together the diverse Democratic coalition for victory in November. NARAL’s members in all of tonight’s primary states were proud to work side by side with Hillary to fight for and win every vote. We applaud her unwavering support of women and our ability to control our own destinies, starting with the right to decide when and how to grow our families. She knows that women’s rights are human rights and that our country thrives when women and families thrive.
“Her leadership is especially critical this year, when the stakes are higher than ever, especially with Donald Trump as the presumptive Republican nominee—a terrifying, but very real, possibility. Donald Trump refuses to disavow violence against women documented at his rallies, perpetuates a culture of sexism, and supports anti-choice policies that will take women back to a time when back alleys were the only option, and contraception was contraband.
“NARAL will be working every day, in partnership with our members across the country, in support of reproductive freedom and the candidate who truly supports our collective vision. That candidate is Hillary Clinton.”
