Calif. AG Is Doing Her Job by Investigating Potential Criminal Conduct by Indicted Anti-Choice Extremist David Daleiden
As anti-choice groups increase their attacks on California Attorney General Kamala Harris for enforcing state law and investigating potential criminal acts by anti-choice extremist David Daleiden, NARAL praised the attorney general for upholding the law and standing up to partisan scare tactics. With a protest at the state capitol today organized by anti-choice groups affiliated with the indicted filmmaker, leaders from NARAL Pro-Choice America and NARAL Pro-Choice California issued the following statements:
“Kamala Harris is a consummate professional who won’t let bullying stop her from doing her job as attorney general and investigating whether indicted anti-choice activist David Daleiden broke any laws in California, just as the grand jury in Texas found he did when they brought felony charges against him,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Instead of supporting the attorney general’s efforts, anti-choice groups have chosen to protest Kamala Harris in an attempt stop this legal investigation from getting to the truth. These groups’ true agenda is clear: to use any means necessary—including hiding the truth about their leaders’ activities—to ban abortion and take away Americans’ constitutionally protected right to reproductive health care. We commend Attorney General Harris for standing up to these scare tactics and doing the job she was elected to do on behalf of all Californians.”
“Attorney General Kamala Harris deserves praise for doing her job and standing up for women and families across California,” said Amy Everitt, state director of NARAL Pro-Choice California. “Amid the increasing levels of violence directed toward reproductive health clinics and patients in the year since Mr. Daleiden’s deceptive videos were released, Attorney General Harris has shown true leadership as she has investigated the facts, upheld the law, and ensured accountability for lawbreakers.”
