Four-State Campaign Features Local NARAL Members Calling on Republican Leaders to #DoYourJob, Quit Obsessing Over Blocking Access to Abortion

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced a new ad campaign that will follow obstructionist Republican senators into their home states this Memorial Day recess, pushing them to do the jobs they were elected to do and fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. The six-figure, week-long radio and digital campaign targets four GOP senators who are the linchpins of the Republican effort to obstruct the confirmation process: Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), and Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH). The ads highlight how leaked audio shows that the GOP strategy of obstructing the nomination process has really been about limiting access to abortion all along.

“Senate Republicans may be skipping town for the holiday weekend, but NARAL is stepping up the pressure to ensure they do the jobs they were elected to do,” said Sasha Bruce, senior vice president for campaigns and strategy at NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Not only have Senate Republicans refused to do their jobs for more than two months, but now we learn that their cynical obstructionism was really about limiting access to abortion all along.

“The stories told by the NARAL members in these ads make clear that Senate Republicans simply don’t share the priorities of the hardworking families they were elected to represent,” added Bruce. “With seven in ten Americans supporting legal access to abortion, the Senate Republicans who are obstructing the nomination process in order to limit access to abortion couldn’t be more out of touch. The message from these constituents to Senate Republicans is clear: #DoYourJob and fill the vacancy on our nation’s highest court.”

All four of the new ads can be found here. Additionally, NARAL recently went up with an ad targeting Sen. Ayotte for failing to do her job and instead being preoccupied with limiting access to abortion.
