Pro-choice voters from across Washington rallied today in support of Pramila Jayapal’s campaign for Congress. At the event organized by NARAL Pro-Choice America and its Washington affiliate ahead of the August 2nd Democratic primary, the group delivered their public endorsement of Jayapal’s campaign and thanked her for being a champion for reproductive freedom and access to abortion. Jayapal used the event to respond to the outrageously anti-woman platform adopted at the Republican National Convention and to unveil her plan to stand up for Washington’s women and families. Leaders from NARAL also outlined their strategy to use political organizing and targeted investments in this race to help make history by electing the first Indian American woman to ever serve in the U.S. Congress.

Pramila Jayapal is a steadfast champion for women and families and has spent her career fighting against GOP attacks on our reproductive freedom. As a state senator, she’s led efforts to provide low-income women with accessible, long-acting contraception, sponsored legislation to ensure pregnant women receive reasonable accommodations in the workplace, and fought tirelessly against a proposed abortion ban.
