NARAL Pro-Choice America today congratulated the pro-choice leaders across Washington State who won their primaries for federal office. These winners include U.S. Senator Patty Murray, congressional candidate Pramila Jayapal, and U.S. Representatives DelBene, Larsen, Kilmer, Smith, and Heck. NARAL endorsed Jayapal and other pro-choice leaders in Washington as a result of their steadfast commitment to protecting women’s reproductive health and their commitment to fight on behalf of all Washington families.
“We want to congratulate Pramila Jayapal and our pro-choice leaders across Washington State for their victories today,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “With reproductive freedom and access to abortion under threat like never before, these pro-choice leaders will take the fight for women’s rights to the halls of Congress. Washington women and families can put their trust in a champion like Pramila Jayapal who has dedicated her life to ensuring that all women are treated equally and have the same opportunities to succeed as men. We are also so pleased that many other pro-choice leaders are also celebrating victories tonight, including Sen. Murray and Reps. DelBene, Larsen, Kilmer, Smith, and Heck. With their perfect pro-choice voting records and consistent support of women and families, families across Washington can be assured that their priorities are being represented in Congress. NARAL is proud to stand with pro-choice leaders across Washington as they continue their campaigns for Congress.”
“After tonight’s victories, one thing is very clear: women and families across Washington are excited to support pro-choice leaders like Patty Murray, Pramila Jayapal, Suzan DelBene, Rick Larsen, Derek Kilmer, Adam Smith, and Denny Heck,” said Rachel Berkson, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. “It’s pro-choice, pro-women leaders like these who have always stood up for our families and opposed efforts to restrict access to basic reproductive health services, including abortion. We couldn’t be more proud to stand with them as they continue to put Washington families first.”
