NARAL statement on vice presidential debate

NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement in response to tonight’s vice-presidential debate.

“Senator Tim Kaine tonight proved why he’s the right man for the job of Vice President and will help make Hillary Clinton’s strong agenda a reality. He showed a grasp of policy, a strong moral compass, and above all, a trust and respect for women that is in direct contrast to the misogyny that guides the Trump/Pence campaign daily. Senator Kaine reaffirmed his commitment to making sure women have access to abortion care and repeatedly asked why Mike Pence does not trust American women to make our own personal decisions.

“Mike Pence has built a career on taking a woman’s health care decisions and choices away from her. He led the charge to defund Planned Parenthood, and even led Indiana when a woman was put behind bars for her abortion. He put Donald Trump’s dangerous rhetoric into practice, plain and simple.

“The choice in this election is stark, and NARAL members are so proud to stand with the ticket that stands with American women.”
