NARAL President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement congratulating New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan on her victory in New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race:
“Maggie Hassan’s victory is a win for all Granite State families and the reproductive freedom of all Americans. In the Senate, we know Maggie will continue her fight to empower women to make our own health care decisions and chart our own destinies. We know that Maggie trusts women and will work to expand access to basic reproductive healthcare, including abortion. We are so proud that she will join champions like Sen. Jeanne Shaheen to give New Hampshire the leadership it deserves in the U.S. Senate. NARAL couldn’t be more proud to congratulate Senator-elect Maggie Hassan!”
NARAL was proud to endorse Governor Hassan and to stand with her throughout her campaign. NARAL members contacted thousands of New Hampshire voters on the doors and on the phones in support of Gov. Hassan’s campaign. Her win over anti-choice Sen. Kelly Ayotte is a victory for the reproductive freedom of all Americans. Sen. Ayotte worked to defund Planned Parenthood and make it harder for women to access abortion. That’s why NARAL placed ads calling out Sen. Ayotte’s out-of-touch agenda which ran through Election Day.
