In conjunction with NARAL Pro-Choice America’s fifth annual Men For Choice event tonight, NARAL announced a partnership with actor-activist David Eigenberg to highlight the important role that men play in the fight for our reproductive freedom. NARAL and Eigenberg released a new video in which Eigenberg talks about why he is a Man For Choice and how reproductive freedom is a human right. That video can be found here.
“Men like David really get it. David has been a longstanding supporter of reproductive freedom and understands these are issues of fundamental human rights,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “He also knows that we need our male partners to be more vocal about their support of abortion rights, which is why we’re thrilled to partner with him on this video. A woman’s ability to decide if, when, and how to raise a family affects every member of our community. That’s why seven in 10 Americans, including men from all walks of life, support keeping abortion legal and accessible. NARAL’s Men For Choice will continue to stand up for this basic human right as together we fight to protect and expand women’s access to essential reproductive healthcare.”
Men for Choice believe that women, not politicians, should make their own decisions about their own lives. They are among the seven in 10 Americans who support safe and legal access to abortion.
Since 2013, NARAL’s Men for Choice events have been held in over a half-dozen states to profile men’s voices in the ongoing quest for every woman to have access to the full range of reproductive healthcare options, including abortion care, contraception, and maternity care. This year’s annual happy hour will feature special guest U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey).
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
