Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, released the following statement in response to reports that Kyle Duncan, the lead counsel in Hobby Lobby Stores v. Burwell, to serve as judge on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals:
“The nomination of Kyle Duncan to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals proves that this Administration will stop at nothing to impose its backwards, anti-choice agenda on women and families across the country. Kyle Duncan is the definition of a partisan nominee, especially given his leadership role as the head attorney for Hobby Lobby’s notorious crusade to put bosses in charge of birth control. His nomination further confirms the Trump Administration is more interested in advancing its partisan agenda than upholding basic rights for women, families, and all Americans. Courts matter and the Trump Administration is actively stacking them against women. The Senate should reject this nominee.”
