In a letter to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue declared support for Rep. Jerrold Nadler to lead the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee.
“For the entirety of his time in Congress, Rep. Nadler has worked tirelessly on behalf of women and families and has been a true leader in protecting women’s constitutional right to reproductive freedom,” Hogue said.
Rep. Nadler has been a tireless champion for women and families during his time in Congress, especially when it comes to defending reproductive rights and abortion access. Rep. Nadler has consistently fought unconstitutional and dangerous abortion bans–including offensive race- and sex-selection bans and ideologically motivated bans on abortion at various points in pregnancy.

It is with great enthusiasm that we declare our support for Rep. Jerrold Nadler to lead the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.
For the entirety of his time in Congress, Rep. Nadler has worked tirelessly on behalf of women and families and has been a true leader in protecting women’s constitutional right to reproductive freedom.
Both in his role on the Judiciary Committee and as Chairman and ranking on the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, Rep. Nadler has led the fight against many of the anti-choice bills that have moved through the committee. In recent years, he has been particularly helpful in fighting against the race- and sex-selection abortion ban bills, bills to ban abortion after 20 weeks, and most recently against the so-called “heartbeat” ban—a bill to ban abortion as early as six weeks. Rep. Nadler has also been influential in promoting legislation to protect abortion rights, including authoring the Freedom of Choice Act, as well as being active on efforts to eliminate clinic violence, and protect patients’ privacy.
In addition, Rep. Nadler has an incredible depth of knowledge, a true commitment to progressive values, and is a fearless leader—standing strong in the face of attempts to erode our constitutional rights.
Particularly at this pivotal point in our nation’s history, this critical role could not be in better hands than Rep. Jerrold Nadler. Rep. Nadler is simply the best candidate and we are proud to support him.
