NARAL Members Stand with Gov. Wolf As He Vetoes GOP Abortion Ban

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 16, 2017

As Gov. Tom Wolf fulfills his promise and vetoes S.B.3, the GOP’s dangerous, unconstitutional abortion ban, NARAL Pro-Choice America States Communications Director James Owens praised the governor’s principled leadership and issued the following statement:

“Every woman deserves the right to make decisions about her own life, body, and future. That’s why NARAL members applaud Governor Wolf for standing up to anti-choice GOP legislators and vetoing this dangerous legislation. Governor Wolf knows that families dealing with incredibly complex situations deserve compassion and understanding, not one-size-fits-all judgments from politicians.

“Governor Wolf’s principled leadership stands in stark contrast to the misplaced priorities of anti-choice Republican leaders. GOP politicians wasted Pennsylvania taxpayers’ time and money to push through a bill that the governor had promised to veto from the very beginning. Pennsylvania families just don’t share the GOP’s obsession with banning abortion and making basic healthcare harder to access. That’s why NARAL members are proud to stand with Governor Wolf as he fights for the reproductive freedom of all Pennsylvanians.”

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
