“At a time when our basic rights are under attack like never before, Steve is a shining example of what a pro-choice champion can be,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “I’ve seen first-hand how Steve has personally dedicated his passion and his energy to fighting for the rights and wellbeing of others, from defending a woman’s right to access abortion to demanding equality for all. That selfless drive and determination will make him an exceptional leader in Congress, who will never stop fighting for Massachusetts. NARAL members are proud to back Steve’s campaign and to stand with him as he fights for the rights of women and families across Massachusetts.”
“I am honored and humbled to have the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America. NARAL has led the fight for reproductive freedom both here in Massachusetts and throughout the country,” said Kerrigan. “With President Trump and a Republican Congress who continue to wage war on women’s rights, the stakes have never been higher. I look forward to working with the pro-choice community and the constituents of the Third District to continue our fight to protect and expand reproductive freedom for all Americans.”
Kerrigan has spent decades fighting for the rights of all Americans, including as a member of the NARAL board and the EMILY’s List Creative Committee. A native of Lancaster and Massachusetts’s 3rd District, Kerrigan has worked in all aspects of government, from local government to the State House and the halls of Congress. In 2009, Steve worked with Sen. Kennedy and local 9/11 families to establish the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund, which supports the families of fallen service members. In support of these local efforts, Kerrigan helped raise more than $2 million in support of more than 200 Massachusetts military families.
