NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Mikie Sherrill for New Jersey’s 11th District. This seat is currently represented by Republican Rodney Frelinghuysen, and is key to winning a pro-choice majority in Congress.
“NARAL members are proud to stand behind Mikie Sherrill as she stands up for the reproductive rights of women and families across New Jersey and our whole country,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “The people of New Jersey support access to legal abortion, and firmly believe that women have the right to make our own decisions about our own lives, bodies, and futures. They deserve to be represented by fighters like Mikie who will work to protect and expand reproductive freedom for all.”
“I am proud to stand with NARAL and the work they do to protect the rights of women across the country,” said Sherrill. “In Congress I pledge to be a strong advocate for women and families, and will defend access to women’s healthcare and the expansion of childcare services.”
Sherrill has spent 10 years fighting for American families while on active duty in the United States Navy. She also served communities across New Jersey while working as Outreach and Reentry Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Jersey, where she prioritized education and employment in communities high in crime. After seeing firsthand the impact that Republican’s major budget cuts had on the state, Sherrill was inspired to run for office and be a vocal advocate for women’s health.
