A recent PPP poll by NARAL Pro-Choice America in the IL-03 race shows Marie Newman within striking distance of out of touch incumbent Dan Lipinski. Newman is just two points away from beating Lipinski with two weeks until the Democratic primary Election Day, showing that voters across the district are rejecting Lipinski’s anti-choice, anti-LGBT, anti-immigrant, and anti-working families agenda.
“Dan Lipinski’s legacy of ignoring the wishes of his constituents and undercutting the fundamental rights of hardworking women and families is skidding to a hard stop. For a long time, Rep. Lipinski has turned a blind eye to the needs of his district, but he can no longer ignore the fact that there’s an alternative now and the numbers show she’s overtaking him. This poll shows that in two weeks, the 3rd District could finally have representation that reflects their values and priorities,” said NARAL President, Ilyse Hogue. “As Marie simply puts it: she trusts women and she trust families, and she believes in representing all people in Illinois’ Third. Dan Lipinski does not. Marie Newman has proven that she will be an unapologetic champion for women and families. At this critical moment in our country, we must choose the future and reject the past. Marie is the future.”
For 13 years, Dan Lipinski has made it his mission to undermine women’s reproductive freedom. From co-sponsoring 52 bills aimed at eroding access to the full range of reproductive healthcare–including to restrict abortion even in cases of rape and incest, to opposing the lifesaving Affordable Care Act, and acting as a mouthpiece for the anti-choice movement, Dan Lipinski has made it clear that he is no friend to Illinois women.
NARAL Pro-Choice America was one of the first organizations to endorse Newman. NARAL along with a coalition of other organizations has invested over $1 million in the race in voter communications to set the record straight on Lipinski’s extreme and out of touch record. NARAL launched a website and ad campaign, Let’s #DumpDan, to educate voters on Lipinski’s extreme record on choice, LGBT issues, guns and immigration.
