NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Congressman Ruben Gallego in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. Gallego has a 100% voting record in the most recent Congressional Record on Choice.
“We need Men for Choice like Rep. Ruben Gallego in Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “We are proud to endorse his re-election for Congress so he can keep fighting for women and families and against the Trump administration’s anti-choice agenda.”
“With Donald Trump in the White House and the GOP in charge of Congress, a woman’s right to choose is under threat,” said Rep. Gallego. “We need organizations like NARAL fighting these forces every day, and I couldn’t be more proud to stand with them in defending a woman’s right to choose.”
As a member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, Congressman Gallego has been an important ally in the fight to protect a woman’s reproductive rights and in the broader cause for full gender equality. Congressman Gallego has been a champion of the EACH Woman Act, which would require Medicare and Medicaid to include coverage for abortion and related services. He is also a strong supporter of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would provide critical safeguards against federal interference with women’s access to contraception services, such as mandated waiting periods. From fighting to protect the Affordable Care Act to defending a woman’s right to choose to fighting for equal pay and paid family leave, Congressman Gallego has been an unwavering ally.
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
