NARAL Pro-Choice America Endorses Diana DeGette for Re-Election

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Diana DeGette in her campaign for re-election to represent Colorado’s 1st Congressional District.

“Throughout her career, Congresswoman DeGette has been a tireless champion for reproductive rights,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “She understands better than anyone that the freedom to decide if and when to start or grow a family is a fundamental right for Colorado women and families. From fighting near-constant attacks on our healthcare to proactively advancing reproductive freedom, Diana has lead the way. She is a true champion for women and families and we are proud to stand with her.”

DeGette has been a leader on reproductive rights ever since she worked to pass the 1993 Bubble bill in Colorado. She has been representing Colorado’s First Congressional District since 1997, where she now serves as the Chief Deputy Whip and Co-Chair of the Pro-Choice Caucus. During her time in Congress, DeGette has worked hard to Keep Title X funding, and is leading the effort to repeal the devastating Hyde amendment through the EACH Woman Act.

DeGette also serves on the powerful Committee on Energy and Commerce, where she has leveraged her leadership position to improve healthcare and expand medical research. Since January 2011, DeGette has served as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. She is also Vice-Chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus and holds membership in 20 Caucuses focused on advancing medical research, culture and renewable energy. DeGette proudly stands on the frontlines for progressive change on healthcare, reproductive rights, food safety, consumer protection, and the environment.
