For Immediate Release: April 19, 2018

Alejandra Pablos has been detained at Eloy Detention Center in Arizona for over a month in retaliation to her activism against the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant families. NARAL continues to stand in solidarity with Pablos, a nationally recognized reproductive and immigrant rights organizer with the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, in advance of her bond hearing today.

“NARAL calls for the release of Alejandra Pablos, an advocate for reproductive and immigrant rights, and urges the immigration judge to uphold her Constitutional right to peaceful protest,” said Adrienne Kimmell, Vice President at NARAL Pro-Choice America. “It is un-American to detain Alejandra on account of her peaceful activism and we continue to stand with her and the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health as they fight for her rightful release.”

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
