In a victory for Nevada women and families, NARAL Pro-Choice America congratulated pro-choice candidates up and down the ballot for winning their primaries. From Rep. Jacky Rosen’s bid to replace anti-choice extremist Dean Heller in the U.S. Senate, to Aaron Ford on his campaign for Attorney General, to Susie Lee running in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, to the numerous candidates running for the state legislature who are proudly touting their pro-reproductive freedom platforms, it’s clear that fighting for a woman’s right to choose in Nevada is a winning issue.
“These candidates are proven champions for reproductive freedom who have demonstrated they aren’t afraid to stand up for the rights of Nevadans to choose if, when, and how to become a parent,” said Caroline Mello Roberson, State Director, NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada, “Now more than ever we need unapologetic leadership from representatives who aren’t afraid to stand up to Dean Heller, Adam Laxalt, and their backwards, out-of-touch agenda. We know that these candidates will be an important voice at every level, advancing the reproductive freedom of all Nevadans. We look forward to making sure that these pro-choice champions win in November.”
“With bad actors like Dean Heller and Adam Laxalt who are obsessed with attacking our reproductive healthcare to excite the most extreme factions of their base, we need champions like Jacky Rosen, Aaron Ford and Susie Lee who will stand up to their out of touch ideology and put Nevada women and families first,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America Political Director Nicole Brener-Schmitz. “We are proud to stand with these pro-choice champions and we look forward to ensuring that they win on November 6th.”
NARAL has been a strong force in Nevada working to elect pro-choice candidates up and down the ballot. In 2016, NARAL members were a part of the successful coalition that flipped the Nevada State legislature from anti-choice to pro-choice control. As result, the 2017 legislative session saw the first bill in more than 18 years to protect and expand access to affordable birth control for all Nevadans. NARAL members are committed to protecting and expanding those pro-choice majorities in the 2018 election by targeting vulnerable seats in the State Senate previously held by anti-choice incumbents. NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada members will continue to work overtime through the general election as they did in the primary, knocking doors in the hot Las Vegas sun and talking to Nevadans about why we need pro-choice champions representing them at every level of government.
