NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Cindy Axne in her campaign to represent Iowa’s 3rd District in Congress.
“Cindy Axne knows firsthand the the needs and challenges of women and families, will fight for them tirelessly if elected, and we are proud to endorse her campaign for Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Iowa women and families deserve leadership from someone who will never back down against out-of-touch politicians and their constant attacks on our basic reproductive freedom.”
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America,” said Axne. “As one of the country’s oldest pro-choice rights advocacy groups they’ve helped protect and advocate for millions of women around the country.” Axne continued: “As we see state after state pass anti-abortion laws it’s now more important than ever to send a pro-choice woman to Washington. It’s why in Congress, I will fight to keep Washington politicians out of the doctor’s office and out of the personal decisions between women and their doctors.”
Cindy Axne is a small business owner and community activist who has experienced first hand the negative effect this administration has had on healthcare. Cindy was one of many individuals whose health insurance plan was canceled as Republicans tried to dismantle the Affordable Care Act last year. Axne has vowed to fight for healthcare for all individuals, focusing on the negative impacts on women that occur with the elimination of the ACA. If elected this November, she would be the first Iowa woman to hold a seat in the U.S. House. Axne faces Republican incumbent David Young who helped pass many anti-choice bills.
