SAN FRANCISCO – In a press conference this morning, NARAL Pro-Choice California Privacy PAC announced its endorsement of Gavin Newsom in his campaign for Governor of California.
“We are so excited to endorse Gavin Newsom who has been a steadfast advocate of every woman’s right to make decisions about her own body and decide her own destiny,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Now more than ever, we need leaders who will fight back against anti-choice extremists who share Donald Trump’s backwards worldview. California has an opportunity to set the bar on fighting for reproductive freedom, and we know Gavin Newsom will provide exactly the kind of leadership that this moment calls for. Our members are ready to knock doors, make phone calls and work to ensure he becomes California’s next governor this November.”

Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom is proudly pro-choice, and has supported efforts to improve reproductive and maternal health. During his time as Mayor of San Francisco, Newsom helped launch the 2008 Urban Initiative for Reproductive Health National Summit. Newsom understands that the foundation for women’s equality is in determining when, if and how to have children. He has been a stalwart fighter to protect access to birth control and abortion care.
