In a victory for women and families across Washington, NARAL Pro-Choice America congratulated pro-choice candidate Lisa Brown for winning her primary in Washington’s 5th Congressional District.
“We know Lisa Brown will protect women’s health and reproductive freedom,” said Tiffany Hankins, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, “Her opponent, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, wants to turn the clock back on women’s rights, which is in opposition to the pro-choice, pro-reproductive freedom values of this district.”
“Now more than ever, Washington residents need pro-choice fighters like Lisa Brown,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America Political Director Nicole Brener-Schmitz. “Lisa Brown will continue fighting for women and families and we look forward to ensuring she is victorious on November 6th.”
Lisa Brown was the first Democratic woman to be state Senate majority leader. She was chancellor of Washington State University Spokane and was instrumental in starting the state’s second public medical school. She has long record of achievement in health care, including women’s health issues.
