NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Congressman Eric Swalwell in his campaign for re-election in California’s 15th Congressional District.
“We are proud to endorse Eric Swalwell who has been a true fighter for the reproductive rights of California’s women and families,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Eric Swalwell has made it clear that fighting to make reproductive freedom for Californians is and will continue to be a top priority for him. California women and families deserve leadership from someone who never backs down from a fight and always puts their best interests first. Eric Swalwell is just that kind of leader and we are proud to support him.”

Eric Swalwell was a deputy district attorney in Alameda County and a member of the Dublin City Council prior to his election in 2012. During his career, he has co-sponsored numerous bills to advance women’s access to reproductive care. In response to the infamous Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case, Swalwell co-sponsored a bill that prevents corporate employers from denying employees access to contraception because of their religious beliefs. He also co-sponsored a bill to repeal the Hyde Amendment, and voted against the 20-week abortion ban. Swalwell has proven time and time again to be a solid pro-choice advocate, which is why he has received a 100% rating from NARAL.
