NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Jim Himes in Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District.
“Jim Himes has long been a pro-choice champion on behalf of Connecticut women and families and we are proud to endorse his re-election,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “When he is sent back to Congress, Jim Himes will continue to be the leader Connecticut women and families need in the pro-choice movement in Congress and in Connecticut.”

The forces of oppression who would take us back and erase the hard-won of the past are marshaling their strength. We must continue the fight for choice, access to birth control, equal pay for equal work and equal representation at all decision tables,” said Himes. “I look forward to continuing this vital work with NARAL to defend a woman’s constitutional rights and never ceasing our vigilant protection of justice.”

Jim Himes has been a consistent pro-choice advocate throughout his five terms representing Connecticut’s 4th district. Before running for Congress, Himes served as the Chair of his local Democratic Town Committee. Prior to serving in Congress, he ran the New York City branch of The Enterprise Community Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of urban poverty. Himes was first elected in 2008 and has received a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America every year since. He voted against a cruel and unnecessary 20-week abortion ban, and the Republican attacks on the ACA and Planned Parenthood. He recently participated in NARAL Pro-Choice America’s #CommitToRoe campaign, committing to legislatively protect access to abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
