After the Independent Democratic Conference lost several seats in the New York primary, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement in response:
“For too long, the Independent Democratic Conference has ignored the values of New York voters, choosing instead to align themselves with Republicans and their anti-choice agenda. Years of obstructing any advancement on reproductive freedom protections in New York finally caught up to these elected officials, and they’re paying a price at the ballot box for turning their back on our essential rights. Now, thanks to the tireless work of NARAL members and countless activists, the IDC can no longer hide their anti-choice stance from voters. It’s clear the women and families of New York want candidates that will fight for their reproductive freedom, not ignore the progressive values that have come to define New York. This is a signal to elected officials all over New York that voters expect them to fight for our reproductive freedom, or we will find representatives that will.”
