After Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee today, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement:

“Today the world watched Dr. Christine Blasey Ford heroically and courageously speak the truth to the most powerful men in the country about the violent sexual assault she suffered at the hands of Brett Kavanaugh. We believe her, we support her, and we thank her for her immense bravery and patriotism.

“This hearing has proven one thing beyond any doubt: Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination should not only be withdrawn, but that he should be kicked off the federal bench all together. People who sexually assault women should not be a judge at any level—from the Supreme Court to the local level.

“Brett Kavanaugh came into today’s hearing with no credibility, having lied, under oath, over and over to the Senate Judiciary about everything from his time in the White House to his clear determination to gut Roe v Wade. Kavanaugh was disqualified even before these credible allegations by Dr. Blasey Ford, period. But today leaves no doubt that Brett Kavanaugh isn’t just unqualified for the Supreme Court, but he is absolutely unfit to sit on any federal bench.

“Brett Kavanaugh is a threat to the American rule of law and to the autonomy and safety of women across the country. His nomination for the Supreme Court must be withdrawn immediately, and he must be kicked off the bench.”
