Kavanaugh’s Growing List of Lies Gets Longer and Longer

Kavanaugh’s Growing List of Lies Gets Longer and Longer

Amid the ongoing FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh, multiple outlets have reported what we’ve known for weeks: Brett Kavanaugh lies under oath constantly, intentionally and about both significant matters and minor details.

From the piece: The texts between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage, both friends of Kavanaugh, suggest that the nominee was personally talking with former classmates about Ramirez’s story in advance of the New Yorker article that made her allegation public.

From the piece: “In recent days I have become deeply troubled by what has been a blatant mischaracterization by Brett himself of his drinking at Yale. When I watched Brett and his wife being interviewed on Fox News on Monday, and when I watched Brett deliver his testimony under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, I cringed.”

From the piece: “In plain terms, for all his spleen and outrage, Judge Kavanaugh lies about everything. In his earlier hearings, he lied about his judicial philosophy, and he lied about his days as a Republican operative, both in and out of the White House. On Monday, he lied to Martha McCallum of Fox News. On Thursday, he lied about his entire adolescence and his college days.”

  • The Unbearable Dishonesty of Brett Kavanaugh | The Intercept: outlines how Kavanaugh lied during the question section of Friday’s hearing on topics ranging from the legal drinking age in Maryland at the time to his claims of never drinking to excess.

From the piece: “Kavanaugh’s choice to lie about things that are easily disproved speaks to a kind of hubris, or entitlement, that befits someone of his pedigree…No lie, it seems, is too small for Kavanaugh.”

From the piece: “But one thing is certain: He lied repeatedly to the Judiciary Committee on Thursday. Some of his lies, about the testimony of witnesses and the integrity of investigations, go to the heart of our system of justice. Any senator who votes to put this man on the Supreme Court is saying that such lies don’t matter.”

  • How We Know Kavanaugh is Lying | Current Affairs: introduces new evidence that Kavanaugh’s opening statement was filled with falsehoods and manipulations

From the piece: “I want to show you, clearly and definitively, how Brett Kavanaugh has lied to you and lied to the Senate. I cannot prove that he committed sexual assault when he was 17, and I hesitate to draw conclusions about what happened for a few minutes in a house in Maryland in the summer of 1982. But I can prove quite easily that Kavanaugh’s teary-eyed ‘good, innocent man indignant at being wrongfully accused’ schtick was a facade. What may have looked like a strong defense was in fact a very, very weak and implausible one.”

Additionally, a  NARAL memo from last week shows Kavanaugh lied about:

Put simply, Brett Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court and should be kicked off the bench. His character is flawed and he cannot be trusted to have power over millions of American women. Lies like the above are why is deeply unpopular and uncredible to the American people. Women are watching, listening, and saying in unison: we’ve had enough.
