Nationwide injunction is a victory for millions of women in America

In response to the federal court in Pennsylvania’s nationwide injunction blocking the Trump administration’s attack on affordable birth control, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement:
“Today a federal court in Pennsylvania sent a clear message to Donald Trump and Mike Pence: your efforts to turn back the clock and control women and our reproductive freedom will not stand. The hypocrisy of the ‘pro-family’ party that wants to block birth control, criminalize abortion and fail to prioritize paid family leave policies is astounding. This rule would have given employers a license to discriminate against their employees, and we applaud the court recognizing that employers have no place in making decisions about the healthcare of their employees. Today’s ruling reaffirms the constitutional rights of millions of women and is a victory for so many women and families who depend on birth control to plan our families and our futures. It underscores the vital role of an objective, non-political court system in upholding women’s rights and is a reminder of why citizens must push back against Donald Trump’s takeover of the judiciary.”
