Arizona Senate Challenger Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group to Unseat Martha McSally, Backer of Trump’s Anti-Choice Judges

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Mark Kelly in his campaign for U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican Senator Martha McSally, an ally of extreme anti-choice groups who has repeatedly voted for Trump’s anti-choice judicial nominees. Kelly has pledged to stand up for reproductive freedom, while McSally’s votes to confirm anti-choice judges alongside her Republican allies limited doctors’ ability to refer care and restricted health clinics’ access to Title X funding, which helps support family planning and reproductive health services access for 36,402 Arizonans.
“With Republicans in Congress like Martha McSally launching extreme new attacks on our fundamental rights, we need strong advocates like Mark Kelly who will fight for reproductive freedom in Washington,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Mark will stand up against these attacks because he understands that women, not politicians, should be able to make our own decisions about if, when, and with whom to start and grow our families. Martha McSally has backed Trump’s reckless judicial nominees who are hellbent on gutting Roe v. Wade and ending access to reproductive health care for millions of Americans. We’re proud to endorse Mark Kelly’s campaign because Arizonans deserve elected officials who fight for their values.”

Mark Kelly is a former astronaut and U.S. Navy captain and husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. He is a proud supporter of reproductive freedom and believes that women, not politicians, should be able to make their own decisions about their families and their futures. His opponent, Senator Martha McSally, has supported extreme anti-choice positions in Congress since she was appointed to the seat after losing her Senate campaign in 2018. NARAL is proud to endorse Kelly’s campaign to replace McSally in the Senate with a fighter for reproductive freedom.
