On Friday, NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed U.S. Senator Tina Smith’s campaign for re-election to represent Minnesota. Smith received NARAL’s endorsement at an event in Saint Paul where she pledged to keep fighting for Minnesotans’ basic rights and to protect reproductive freedom as it is under unprecedented attack nationwide.
“Minnesota women and families have a strong champion in Washington with Senator Tina Smith,” said Nicole Brener-Schmitz, political director of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Last cycle, we proudly stood by Tina in her first Senate election where she proved that running on reproductive freedom is key to the path to victory in Minnesota. In 2020, NARAL will keep fighting for Tina Smith just as hard as she fights for our fundamental rights and make sure we send a dedicated advocate for reproductive freedom back to the Senate.”
“Every person should be able to access the care they need and be able to make their own health care choices,” said Sen. Smith. “That’s why I have spent my life—as an organizer, advocate and U.S Senator—standing up to the endless attacks over access to reproductive health care and working to lower health care costs for Minnesotans and all Americans. I’m honored to have the support of NARAL Pro-Choice America.”
Tina Smith is a dedicated public servant and a proud fighter for reproductive freedom. She stood up for reproductive rights when she served as both Minnesota Lieutenant Governor as well as the first vice president for external affairs for Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota. Now running for her first full term in the Senate, she remains a passionate champion for women and families.
