NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Shannon Hutcheson in her campaign to represent Texas’ 10th Congressional District, a seat currently held by Republican Congressman Michael McCaul.
“Anti-choice extremists like Mike McCaul continue to threaten our fundamental rights and launch unprecedented attacks on women and families,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Now more than ever, we need representatives in Congress who will fight for our reproductive freedom against extreme attacks and we know Shannon Hutcheson will stand up for our rights. Shannon Hutcheson is a native Texan, businesswoman, and lifelong advocate for women and families. Raised by a working-class Texas family, Hutcheson worked her way through college and law school before joining the top-tier law firm of Baker Botts LLP as one of the youngest lawyers every hired by the firm. In 2008, she started the woman-owned law firm Hutcheson Bowers in Austin. She is a dedicated advocate for reproductive freedom and for almost ten years has done legal work for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas and served on the leadership council for the Center for Reproductive Rights. Hutcheson will be a champion for Texas women and families in Congress at this crucial juncture in the fight for reproductive freedom.
